10 Favorite Things

A few of my favorite things! I have done a post or two like this but thought hey why not do another one.

Here are a few of my favorite things

  1. Arbonne Deodorant– it’s cool and minty and keeps me from smelling anything less than pretty. It is free from aluminum, parabeans, and toxins.
  2. Success Magazine-I had been following their Facebook page for a while, but was recently given some old issues from a fellow entrapuner and I am enjoying them. With each issue comes a CD. The editor interviews successful big name people.
  3. Breakfast bowls– these a new easy favorite of mine. Yogurt (of your choosing), granola, and fruit all mixed together. It’s a tasty protein packed meal or snack.
  4. Iced tea-This has always been a favorite. Growing up in New Hampshire I drank my weight in sun tea every summer. My mom would throw some mint from the garden in it and tada! I recently got a mint plant (funny story really) and have been enjoying iced tea.
  5. Gardening-As a kid I don’t think I appreciated the garden as much as I do now. I live in a cute little town home with a tiny back yard so my city garden is all in pots on my little postage stamp patio.
  6. Books– Well these are ALWAYS a favorite of mine but just finished reading Broken Open and  a book on how to love your money. I am still finishing up The Happiness Trap- All about ACT therapy.
  7. Walking-Its my preferred form of exercise (besides yoga) and I have been trying to do a lot more lately. When I was nannying…(I make that sound like it was a long time ago lol but my job as a nanny only ended last week 😛 )I would plop the girl(s) in the stroller and get in two miles everyday…same loop e.v.e.r.y.d.a.y….yawn…so now I am SO enjoying spicing it up. Since Friday I have done 4 different routes and places.
  8. Succulents– I guess I could plop this into the gardening category but succulents are so FUN! I am slowly adding to my collection. In May I got a aloe plant and a new cactus. The aloe has come in handy a few times with sun burns.
  9. Traveling –I have a few fun trips planned this summer. Next week I am heading to Phoenix Arizona to visit my friend Karen from college! She’s what you call a soul sister-someone who you may not see or talk to for a while but when you hang out it is like no time has passed. In July Ill being going down to Anaheim to attend a conference with my Aunt Rose. In August I finally get to visit San Francisco for my friend Megan’s wedding! So fun. I MAY go back to NH in the fall, but no concrete plans just yet.
  10. Baking-Nope not in the sun lol I mean making yummy goodies, but with a healthy twist. I eat gluten free as much as possible, so I always make things with coconut flour or almond flour. Yesterday I made a double batch of banana bread with all the left over bananas from the week before.

How to curl your hair super fast!

I LOVE Pinterest!! I love scoping out recipes, organization, crafts products. Last week I came across one I thought oh hey I need to try that and I did (with only a few mishaps :-P)

IMG_20160530_202526

I have never been very good at curling my hair, and to be honest never practiced much…but I would LOVE to wear my hair curly more often so seeing this made me so happy!

When I tried it on Sunday morning it was an epic FAIL…come to find out my hair curler is a total dud, so no wonder it wasn’t working.

Last night I used another curling iron that was in the house and TADA it worked. This above style you see is a rough version of what I want to do next time. I didn’t use any hairspray or moose as I was heading to be and just seeing if it would indeed work!

Cant wait to try it (for real) this weekend!

Weekly Skin Care Tip from Dom

Today’s Topic
•Teenage Acne•
If you have a teenager in your life, chances are good that he or she will struggle with breakouts and we have all been teens right…UGH

The American Association of Dermatology estimates that 85% of teenagers will have acne at some point.
It all seems too unfair–just when kids are hypersensitive about their appearance, acne shows up, wreaking havoc on their self-esteem and confidence. For young people especially, the benefits of clear skin are undeniable. Unfortunately, acne is one of the trickiest skin disorders to treat. But, if you have all the facts and a variety of realistic options, you can help your teenager greatly reduce or even eliminate breakouts.
Here’s what you need to know to put together an effective, easy-to-follow skin-care routine that addresses all the causes of acne. And as your skincare consultant, I am here to help and guide you and your loved one every step of the way. Your teenager, believe it or not, will thank you!
Why Do Teenagers Break Out?
Mostly because of raging hormones: During the teen years the body produces excessive amounts of hormones, especially androgens, which trigger oil production. The more oil produced inside the pores, the more likely the pores will become clogged and rupture. Bacteria, called Propionibacterium acnes, begin to multiply, resulting in inflammation and causing a red, swollen, and unsightly pimple.
Not cleaning their face twice a day: Although dirty skin is not a cause of acne, if you have acne and you don’t cleanse your face twice a day, there will be a build-up of dead skin cells that will clog pores and cause breakouts. For girls: Not completely removing your makeup at night will definitely make matters worse.
Applying pore-clogging moisturizers, facial masks, foundations, or concealers: Many girls pile on the makeup, especially concealers, or they use cream moisturizers with pore-clogging ingredients. I can help your teen select products that are far less likely to cause irritation.
Inconsistent skin care: The secret to clearer skin is to stick to a consistent, effective skin-care routine.
Hair products: Heavy application of styling products to the hair that falls on your face can cause breakouts in those areas. Keeping the hair off your face can help a great deal.
How Can I Help My Teen Establish a Skin-Care Routine?
Streamline their skin-care routine: It doesn’t take a multitude of skin-care products and a complex routine to combat acne, and for teens such a process is probably too elaborate for them to follow anyway. All they need to do is use a well-formulated cleanser, toner, exfoliant, and topical treatment, plus a sunscreen every morning and possibly a lightweight moisturizer at night.
Help your teenager set realistic expectations by discussing what is and what is not possible from skin-care products.
Don’t forget their fragile egos: Peer pressure is brutal for teens, and their desire to fit in dictates a lot of their behavior and choices. That’s why acne breakouts can deliver a devastating blow to your teen’s self-esteem. Acne is difficult at any age, but for teenagers it is tormenting. For teens, a pimple is not merely a pimple.
If your teen or loved one or someone you know is suffering from acne, I’d love to help them find the best products to help with this life altering issue.

Detox Slimming Wraps

343f9dc26dd5edf8df27f9d44d958ea4

So, what IS a detox slimming wrap? It is just a quick way to drop an inch or so around your tummy, thighs, or arms.  Disclaimer, though: Arbonne International didn’t come up with these wraps. They don’t sell them and do not endorse them. These wraps were created by a smarty-pants Independent Consultant.

What’s so different about these wraps? The Arbonne products! They’re pure, safe and beneficial! You can use the products for so many things!

Also, you can reuse your wrap! Just toss them in the wash after each use, and use them again! But, the magic is in the products. You WILL NOT get the same results without the products.

What you need:

  1. Detox Rescue Wash
  2. Foaming Sea Salt Scrub
  3. Renewing Body Gelee
  4. Purifying Body Soak
  5. Re-mineralizing hand lotion 24 Hour
  6. 5 in 1 Massage Oil (optional – for extra support and hydration)
  7. Saran wrap
  8. A towel or hand towel
  9. A dish bin, bowl or sink: somewhere to hold water to soak wrap
  10. An herbal wrap or large ace bandage. (latex-free)
  11. 20 – 32 oz of water.
  12. String to measure

You can find all of these Arbonne products at http://www.dominiquerondeau.arbonne.com. Ask me how to get the BEST deal

What to do:

  1. Put your string around the area you’re wrapping.  Cut the string so that it’s meeting end to end. Mark using a sharpie so you know where to measure when you’re done the wrapping.
  2. Put on some comfy PJ pants or shorts and tuck a towel into the top of them so they don’t get soaking wet. They will likely get damp.
  3. Soak wrap for 10 – 15 minutes in bin/bowl/sink with a teaspoon of Purifying Sea Soak.
  4. Use one pump of Detoxifying Rescue Wash with a bit of water to wash off the surface of the area you’re wrapping. You can just use your hand in circular motions. Do not wash off.
  5. Add a nickel sized amount of Foaming Sea Salt Scrub and Renewing Body Gelee and rub all over the area that will be wrapped. You can use a little extra Glee if you’d like.
  6. Wring out the wrap. It should be damp but not soaking wet/dripping.
  7. Wrap area so that no gaps are showing between the wrap. Secure wrap with prongy-things that came with your wrap. The wrap should be tight but remember you need to be able to breathe.
  8. Wrap 5 – 7 layers of saran around to totally cover the wrap. This keeps the body heat in and keeps the products ‘activated’. Dollar store plastic wrap does NOT work for this. It’s worth getting the good stuff. I use the Glad brand.
  9. Put your clothes on/your shirt down and go on about your business. Leave the wrap on for 60 – 90 minutes. I have clients that clean or cook or whatever to pass the time.
  10. After you remove the wrap, use a washcloth or wet paper towel (or jump in the shower if you’re able) to wash off access sea salt scrub.
  11. Apply ReMineralizing Lotion 24H + 5-in-1 Massage Oil all over the area you wrapped.
  12. Remeasure using the same string to see how many inches you lost!

7fae9ea6ffdfe7fbe511aad56e5e974d

IMPORTANT: You’ll need to drink the water during the duration of the wrap. No need to chug! Unless that’s your thing… PS. no you’re not losing ‘water weight’ as many people presume. The products turn toxins into salts your body can eliminate when you sweat and go to the bathroom. So that water is just helping to push out the toxins.

HINT: The detox process keeps working for up to 72 hours, so don’t be surprised or bummed if you don’t lose anything right away. Measure again later on in the day and the next couple of days using the same string.

HOT TIP: Avoid processed foods, soda, gluten, sugars and dairy at all costs during the 72 hours for best results! All of these things cause bloating and inflammation and will undo the detox process.

PS These are TEMPORARY results! Healthy eating and exercise are the only ways to see lasting results 🙂

My 5 Minute Make Up Routine

0517161818-1

I thought I’d share with you my simple routine and the few products in my everyday make-up bag.

Everything I use is from Arbonne. I made the switch to their skincare line about 2.5 years ago when I realized it was about time I started taking a little better care of me. It’s taken me some time to build up my collection and learn how to use each item even but its well worth it.

Growing up as a country bumpkin I knew all about horses and chickens and cows but VERY little about beauty and fashion. Arbonne has been an awesome segway into a FUN and classy world of being a girly-girl.

Their products are all botanically-based and never tested on animals, contain no animal by-products and are actually doing good things for your skin while you wear them.

Eye Shadow: (Sugar Plum Pallet): Since I wear glasses I can get away with a little more eye color and I love these 4 and can do something different each day. The colors are rich and they last all day.

Its a Long Story Mascara: This was one of my favorite Arbonne products. I used to wear drug store mascaras and found my eyes suddenly stinging and tearing up at random moments during the day and oh the loss of lashes. Not only is this mascara botanical and SAFE, it contains ingredients that actually condition your lashes.

CC Cream:  Arbonne’s CC Cream has an amazing reputation. It works for all skin types and is a workhorse: It’s primer, protector, concealer, hydrator, mattifier, brightener, blemish cover, pore refiner, complexion controller. Boom. I feel fancy when I wear it and it looks awesome!

Bronzer: Brushes on evenly for a flawless-looking finish. It gives me the perfect finished look

Lipstick Tips for ALL day color!

12787988_995603223865688_1160852991_n

Here is Kristin, my lipstick model for the day! She won this color Guava few weeks back entering my free lipstick giveaway! So fun!

What are your favorite dos and don’ts about lipstick?

12669693_573073916190507_702888315491466927_n

Here is Anesica wearing Iris! One of my FAVORITE colors 🙂

Some tips I have for making your lipstick last ALL day

1.Lightly scrub away the top surface of your lips with a damp toothbrush to get rid of dull, dry skin cells.

2.Use a non-petroleum lip moisturizer on the lips to moisturize the fresh skin. (Arbonne makes a GREAT one)

3. Blot with a tissue to remove any excess cream.

4. With a brush, gently wipe a light concealer over the lips. This gives you a nice clear line for when you add your lip liner. It also creates a nice base for your lipstick, bringing out its true color

5. Use a sharpened, neutral lip liner around the edge of the lips. Blend it softly in or you won’t be left with any definition once you apply your lipstick.

6.Apply lipstick to the back of your hand, then apply to your lips with a brush.

7.Blend a thick layer of lipstick into the lips and pencil line.

8.Open mouth slightly to apply lipstick into inner corners.

9. Place a thin layer of tissue over the lips and apply loose or pressed powder through the tissue to set the lipstick in place. The tissue gives a finer coverage of powder going through to the lips so that you aren’t removing the lip color — you’re just matting it down and setting it in place.

10. Apply a final layer of lipstick to give a long lasting glossy finish.

Have a rocking day loves.

Say no to the nasties!

Did you know the FDA has no regulations on skincare in the US? Under the law, cosmetic products and ingredients do not needFDA premarket approval, with the exception of color additives…guys that is SCARY!

What does this mean? Well on a basic level anything can be added to our products without being regulated.

Parabens, for instance, are a class of widely used preservatives in cosmetic and pharmaceutical products. Chemically, they are a series of para hydroxybenzoate’s or esters of para hydroxy benzoic acid. Parabens are effective preservatives in many types of formulas and they cause cancer so why they heck would we want to be putting them in or on or even near our bodies?

Arbonne has chosen to follow the guidelines of the Eurpenan Union and the Eropean Cosmetic Directive because their standards are SO high. This makes me feel GREAT about what I am using on my skin!

Do your research! Thoug stors like Target and Macy’s offer an affordable and convient options they are not always the best for your skin.
