Whey Not?!

For years, we have been told whey protein is the way to go, but I want to challenge that opinion.

What is whey? Well, whey protein isolate is a by-product from cheese-making. It’s the clear liquid used after the milk has curdled and is often used to feed pigs. Humans aren’t designed to drink cow’s milk, calves are!

Milk contains so many hormones and is estrogen heavy…men I am sure you don’t want to have to worry about your estrogen levels.

Whey is hard to digest !

“If we have special protein powders created from cow’s milk for human consumption, it would only make sense that it must be because our society sees a very high rate of protein deficiency. But, that isn’t the case at all. In fact, a protein deficiency is almost unheard of in America and only exists in someone who does not consume adequate calories. The reason this is so, is because of the macronutrient make-up of food. Food is only made up of proteins, fats, carbohydrates, and water (and sometimes alcohol). Some level of protein is present in all foods, and in significant quantities in specific types of foods such as beans and other legumes, nuts, seeds, leafy green vegetables, other vegetables and grains. The amount of protein required by the human body (5-10% of total calories per day) is relatively low in comparison to the other macronutrients. It is therefore impossible to be protein deficient when sufficient calories are consumed. This is how nature works. In reality, most people in developed countries, including those following a plant-based diet, eat too much protein, not the other way around.[2] We clearly don’t have a health or nutritional need for whey or casein protein powders, so why are they here, why are they so popular, so common, and why is their use so infrequently questioned?” Taken from http://nutritionstudies.org/no-whey-man-ill-pass-on-protein-powder/

Lipstick Tips for ALL day color!

Here is Kristin, my lipstick model for the day! She won this color Guava few weeks back entering my free lipstick giveaway! So fun!

What are your favorite dos and don’ts about lipstick?

Here is Anesica wearing Iris! One of my FAVORITE colors 🙂

Some tips I have for making your lipstick last ALL day

1.Lightly scrub away the top surface of your lips with a damp toothbrush to get rid of dull, dry skin cells.

2.Use a non-petroleum lip moisturizer on the lips to moisturize the fresh skin. (Arbonne makes a GREAT one)

3. Blot with a tissue to remove any excess cream.

4. With a brush, gently wipe a light concealer over the lips. This gives you a nice clear line for when you add your lip liner. It also creates a nice base for your lipstick, bringing out its true color

5. Use a sharpened, neutral lip liner around the edge of the lips. Blend it softly in or you won’t be left with any definition once you apply your lipstick.

6.Apply lipstick to the back of your hand, then apply to your lips with a brush.

7.Blend a thick layer of lipstick into the lips and pencil line.

8.Open mouth slightly to apply lipstick into inner corners.

9. Place a thin layer of tissue over the lips and apply loose or pressed powder through the tissue to set the lipstick in place. The tissue gives a finer coverage of powder going through to the lips so that you aren’t removing the lip color — you’re just matting it down and setting it in place.

10. Apply a final layer of lipstick to give a long lasting glossy finish.

Have a rocking day loves.

Why use Vegan Skincare?

I don’t eat vegan but I did grow up on a farm and appreciate animals and know there’s a difference between how different feed lots care for their animals  and the slaughtering process etc.
With that being said what goes in your body is just as important as what goes on it. Animal rendering plants turn my stomach. Google it and you will see its gross.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HA1dVYyXc8Y
I have no desire to have animal bi-products on my skin thank you but alot of companies are still doing just that.

Gross right!! Yet informing yourself of what is in your makeup, shampoo, and lotion is the first step.
